Back-to-School Wellness

As the summer winds down and routines return, it’s the perfect time to reset — not just your schedule, but your spinal health too.

Whether you're heading back into the office or your kids are getting ready to shoulder those backpacks again, posture and movement habits can make all the difference in how we feel day to day.

Protect Growing Spines

Backpacks, desks, and screen time can quickly lead to poor posture and tension in kids and teens. Here’s what to look out for:

  • Ensure backpacks are worn on both shoulders

  • Limit weight — no more than 10–15% of body weight

  • Pack the heavier items closest to the spine. This is particularly important for those at high school or University

  • Encourage regular breaks from screens and homework

Chiropractic care helps kids stay aligned and can even support better concentration and reduced muscle tension as they adjust to new routines.

Work at a Desk? Might be Time For a Reset

Back-to-work often means long hours at a desk, and for many, that means slouching, stiffness, and afternoon aches. To prevent it:

  • Adjust your desk and screen height, so that the top of the screen is at eye level

  • Keep feet flat, shoulders relaxed, and sit on a wedge cushion

  • Get up and move every 30–60 minutes, even just to walk around your chair

Regular chiropractic adjustments can help relieve tension, improve posture, and keep you feeling more mobile.

You Can Still Correct Your Posture Even If You Aren't In Any Pain

Remember, wellness isn’t only about fixing problems, it’s about keeping your body functioning at it's best before aches and pains set in.

Whether it’s a quick spinal check for your child or a posture tune-up for yourself, we’re here to help you feel your best.
